HOME DEFENSE SHOTGUN

The shotgun is a powerful tool for home defense, but requires the user to have a basic understanding of the function of their gun and proper deployment of the firearm in a home defense situation. It is an effective and devastating tool for home defense but you must understand how to run your gun before choosing a shotgun for such a purpose. Our Home Defense Shotgun course is designed to teach the shooter how to operate their shotgun in the most efficient manner possible while achieving accurate hits on target. This class with break the myths you have read on the internet and expand your capabilities and force options.

  • Choosing a shotgun for home defense
  • Semi-Auto Shotguns versus Pump Action Shotguns
  • Shotgun Set up and accessories
  • Choosing defensive shotgun ammunition
  • Patterning Your Shotgun
  • Utilizing Buckshot for Home Defense (Pros and Cons)
  • Utilizing Birdshot for Home Defense (Pros and Cons)
  • Utilizing Slugs for Home Defense (Pros and Cons)
  • Recoil Management Techniques
  • Reloading Techniques
  • Ammunition Management Techniques
  • Use of Cover

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT

  • Functional pump action or semi-automatic shotgun in good working order
  • Sling (two point recommended)
  • 200 rounds of Bird Shot
  • 20 Rounds of Buckshot
  • 20 Rounds of Slug
  • Ammunition carrier, belt mounted or rig mounted
  • Sidearm with 50 rounds (optional)
  • Appropriate range attire (pants with belt loops, sturdy belt, close toed shoes)
  • Eye and Ear Protection
